Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Guidelines for submitting your 2D/3D images:

2D Pictures

  1. Scan Photo and e-mail to sales@janscrystalimages.com.  The clearer the picture, the better it will turn out in the crystal!
  2. If you do not have a computer to e-mail the picture, you must make arrangements for a drop off.  All pictures will be returned.
  3. Electronic Submission guideline:   JPG format (300 DPI)
  4. Please make it clear on the order form if  there are multiple images (faces) in the picture, please make it clear which images (faces) you want us to use.
  5. Do not worry about background of the picture..we will crop it out.
  6. We can work with multiple pictures for different people.
  7. We can work with full and half body shots, or any object  (Cars, Motorcycles, Houses, Animals)
  8. Think about words (script) that you would like us to burn into the crystal to capture that special occasion or moment!
  9. Pick Crystal to fit your occasion.  Size can depend on the quantity of faces or how big you want your image(s)

3D Pictures

  1. You must book an appointment at least 2 weeks prior to take a 3D photo of a face.
  2. Picture is taken from shoulders up. We can not do full body shots.
  3. Please refrain from wearing the colors black and white, and do not wear anything with a collar.
  4. Please refrain from wearing Jewelry.  Eye glasses from time to time can create problems (reflections).
  5. Can only take 1 picture at time.
  6. Must sit completely still for 3 seconds on a stool in front of a projector camera (children can be tricky) but we do have ways to capture their attention. DO NOT expect small children to smile.
  7. We do fine adjustments and will show you the 3D face on the computer.
  8. There is no limitation on the size of crystal you use.  More depends on how many faces you would like to put in 3D.
  9. Pick the order and positioning of the faces.
  10. Think about words (script) that you would like to use to capture the special occasion.
  11. Please give us 2 weeks for completion of the project.

Turning 2D into 3D pictures

  1. Must have a good quality picture of the person or object.
  2. Extra charges will apply, as a graphic artist needs to work with this specialty request.  3D prices apply plus the extra time to create into 3D.

Combining 2D and 3D pictures

  1. Example: flat 2D background (mountains) with a 3D person or object in the front of it.

 

Terminology

Picture Any 2D image - the clearer the picture the better it will turn out in crystal. We can not use pictures from Newspapers as the resolutions are too low.
2D Flat surface picture from a camera
3D Faces Captures front of face to behind your ears (not full 360 view of head)
3D Objects Captures complete object in its 3D formation. We have a wide assortment of "clipart" to choose from, or provide your own 3D model!
Small Images Single face, business card logo
Large Images 2 or more faces, large picture (example: motorcycle)
Half body Head down to midsection of waist
Full body From top of head to the tip of the toe
Script Characters of text/numbers
Burning Burning the image into the crystal. The bigger the image the bigger the burn.  Cost will be higher.
